About Me
I'm Carolyn and I want to thank you for visiting Mindful Bodies Massage. I am a licensed massage therapist with more than 1100 hours of education and training, over a ten year period, in California and Massachusetts. I've been trained in numerous modalities including Swedish massage, deep tissue, oscillation, hot stone massage, shiatsu (acupressure), sports massage, and myofascial work. I hold a deep understanding of human anatomy and physiology, which combined with my intuitive approach to work, helps me to create a lasting therapeutic experience for my clients.

BIO
In 2005, I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Stonehill College where I studied an array of expressive arts including, dance & movement, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and film. I ventured west to California in 2006 to see where life would take me, and to put my arts education to use in a great big new city. After a few years of working in the LA fashion industry, I found myself searching for something more. I was dealing with chronic stress and anxiety, working so many hours a week in a cut-throat industry, where everyone only seemed concerned with appearances, and profits, and "connections". For me, it was not healthy and I knew I had to find a new path. I too, was interested in connections, but not the industry kind that were on-the-surface and could lead you just to a bigger paycheck. I was more interested in meaningful connections with people, places, and experiences that would help me learn and grow as a whole person, and help me find fulfillment. At that point in 2008, I started to explore a new path toward healing my own internal chaos and desire for purpose. I asked myself how I could combine my creativity and my love of expression with my curiosity for healing the mind and body and helping others. It was there that I found the art of massage therapy. I found an amazing school, California Healing Arts College where I completed a 720 hour massage program. It was an eye opening experience where I was taught by instructors who were chiropractors, osteopaths, personal trainers, experts in Traditional Chinese medicine, as well as massage therapists. My appreciation for the human body and all of it's systems and capabilities grew exponentially. During my time at CHAC, some major life events were happening for me personally also. I became a mother of twins. This was in itself a lesson in the truly awesome powers of the human body. In 2012 we relocated back to Boston where I put my massage career on hold to focus on my family and building a life in our new home. However, throughout that time my dedication to practicing and promoting health and wellness through an active lifestyle, self-care, and continued learning only grew stronger. I knew I had to get back to doing what I was and still am passionate about, and that was supporting others in healing their minds and bodies. I enrolled back in school once again, completing an additional 430 credit hours of education at The Teoma Center - Institute of Massage Therapy and obtaining my massage therapy license in Massachusetts. I now live in Dorchester, balance motherhood with running my private practice, and earning my masters degree in holistic mental health counseling. I am dedicated to practicing and promoting health and wellness through an active lifestyle, a holistic approach to self-care, following a plant-based diet, and expanding my knowledge through research and continued education.
